CAD Files
Send your CAD files direct to us – preferably in 1:1 scale, and we can cut or produce tooling direct from your drawings! We can also use these to quote against – or if you do not have drawings, we’ll be happy to create CAD files for you.
Silicone was initially created for electrical applications but with its high stability and inert properties, was soon used to develop products for medical applications – such as implants.
Although EAS is not involved in the implant market, nor do any parts we produce (knowingly) enter the human body – many products are used in medical equipment. Examples of this include dialysis machines, feed lines, resuscitation equipment – and even the humble test-tube rubber bung!
While anti-static silicone tubing is used in many applications, we also produce a wide array of more specialist parts – both as moulded items – or more frequently as high-tolerance water-jet products.
Highly specialised super-thin Silicone sheet can be cut from 0.02mm (0.00079″) thick!
More commonly we cut materials from 0.3mm thick, but these super-thin grades, cut using special carrier membranes, are becoming more frequently used in light duty medical applications, especially where seals against glass surfaces are made.
Standard silicone sheeting goes up to 25mm – with thicker materials being made to order.
These thicker grades are offered either as CNC machined parts or water-jet cut parts.
Generally Platinum cured Silicones are used in Medical applications as there are no peroxides included in the compounds.
This means that many of the products are produced from clear, translucent or white grades to ensure added purity. Occasionally colour are specified – such as our FDA ‘Royal Blue’ where special pigments are introduced into the mix to ensure the same inert status.
Most importantly, Platinum cured Silicone used in medical devices can also be sterilised in steam autoclaves or washed with certain sterilising fluids (such as rubbing alcohol) to eliminate micro-organisms.
Emailed enquiries for silicone water-jet cut gaskets and seals are normally quoted within 15 minutes on standard stock materials and production of parts can be same day or next day for those extra-urgent jobs!
