The majority of parts we supply in rubber already contain a % of recycled content.
Many of the black rubbers we use – especially the ‘economy’ or ‘commercial’ grades use carbon black derived from rubber waste, which acts as a filler and blacking agent in the material.
Higher grade materials used often have zero recycled content, simply because parts produced from these grades have life expectations – often in aggressive working environments, and obtaining the best possible quality is paramount.
Products used in the Food and Drugs industries for instance, would not be approved if recycled material – without batch traceability – is used in the structure of those materials.
However, this does not mean that when these parts come to the end of their useful life, they cannot continue to utilised and all rubbers can be converted into usable product – with many possibly re-ground to provide fillers in new materials, or mixed with compounds for paints and road coverings (anti-skid topping) – or simply used to make floor tiles or rubber mats.
Most recycling centres will advise on rubber recycling in your area within the UK, but we are happy to take cleaned product and convert it for you here!
